Welcome.
to the 2017 season. We have the prospects of a great year ahead. 2016 saw some very exciting times with our Junior teams beginning regular training at our facilities with a slightly different field layout. We also installed a demountable building to replace the old shipping containers. On the field we reached the semi-finals in all senior grades with our Division 1 men’s team winning the Grand Final.
In 2017, we are planning a field lighting upgrade having received a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. That will allow us to host night games on Fridays and Saturdays. There will be a pre-season carnival and possibly at the end of the 2017 season an entire ground renewal/facelift with Harrup Park raising the playing surface, adding irrigation and with slight field alterations will hopefully allow the addition of a third senior playing/training field.
We are very fortunate in having 3 accredited Coaches for our Senior teams. We have reappointed Phill Jackson as our Premier Men’s Coach and he will be supported by Josh Guy who has joined us from Stratford Dolphins and is also a lecturer in Exercise and Sports Science at Central Queensland University. Brad Radunz will also be coaching our Premier Women’s team who comes to the club with a wealth of unmatchable experience.
All of these coaches are highly accredited and experienced and coupled with the return of Shannon Jones, 1st Division Women’s Coach and Chris Tilbrook 1st/2nd Div Men’s Coach/Co-ordinator, City Brothers is looking forward to all their input and experience to assist the club in reaching its goals in 2017 and beyond (coaches’ accreditations and experience available on web site). Along with these Coaches, City Brothers has also been fortunate to secure the services of Physiotherapist Elliot Maher to assist in player preparation and rehabilitation. Elliot comes well experienced in his field in the sporting industry and we are looking forward and thankful for his support and expertise in 2017.
